What is Quarter Sawn Oak?

The difference between Quarter Sawn Oak and Plain Sawn Oak is in the way the log is cut. There is no difference in the type of log.

Flat or Plain Sawn Oak has the large elongated grain patterns you see on most modern cabinetry.

Quarter Sawn Oak will have tight grain with flecks and stipes what you would typically see with antique arts and crafts or mission style cabinetry. sometimes referred to as Tiger Striped grain.

If you are adding a new piece of furniture or cabinetry you may want to choose Flat Sawn to match your existing wood work.
If you are more interested in a traditional antique look, you may want to choose Quarter Sawn. Either way, Antique Ice Box can build you an appliance you can find no were else.
